Looking for some love from our fans

toriiswing550x275.jpg

We played a good game; a great game, really, in many ways — an awesome game. It’s deflating, sure, but we battled and battled and battled, and it just didn’t happen for us. They took advantage of a mistake, and we didn’t take advantage of enough scoring chances.

Now we have to go home to L.A. and play a little better. It’s not over by a long shot. We’re not playing up to our capabilities. We need to do a little better, come through a little more.

toriirunning375x275.jpg

We had the lead when Chone Figgins got that big hit in the 11th, but Alex Rodriguez is a great hitter, and he saved them when he went deep. That’s what he does. He’s definitely one of the best hitters in baseball, and you know you have to pitch him tough.

Man, these games have been hard on the nerves. If I let my hair grow out, I’d have gray everywhere.

It’s loud and crazy here, people screaming for their team. And the Yankees respond to that. They got a lot of energy from their crowd in these two games, and now it’s our turn to go home and get that energy from our fans.

We need to get busy and take it one pitch at a time, one inning at a time. There’s a lot of baseball left to play, and we’re going to show we’re better than we’ve played in these first two games.

I’ve got a feeling we’re going to go home and it’s going to be a whole different scene in our place, with our fans, the Rally Monkey, all that Southern California energy working for us.

We’re all a little drained and frustrated now, but we’ll be ready on Monday. We’ll just check ourselves going home and take care of business. Nobody’s going to use the cold weather or the conditions for an excuse. We battled, they battled, and they took two games.

That’s done. Time to move on and make good things happen in our house. Gotta get going now. We’re out of here. See you all in Angel Stadium, and get ready to rock.

    Tori,

We all love you guys!! The Angels put on a good effort tonight, however, the Yankees were able to win the game. Yes, it’s disappointing and yes, we should of won the game… in the end, the Angels showed everyone that they are capable of keeping the Yankees on their toes until the very end. It was a good, but hard battle for all of you .

Tonight, the Yankees made their mistakes also. It shows they are also human and not flawless. I just wish and I”m sure you do too, that we would of taken advantage of their mistakes. It worked here and there and you guys did work very hard to make that happen. The Angels are a great team! Please try to pump up the team for the next few games. I think you have a good effect on them and they need you. The team must hit more and not leave too many on bases. This is not Angels ball, but you and I both know, the Angels can do so much better.

I hope and pray that the next games in Anaheim are successful for the Angels.

Me and my family love you!! Do it for us, do it for your fans and do it for Nick Adenhart.

    Now go get them!!!

Torii, you and the rest of the team played very well; this was a classic game; at least in Anaheim it’ll be a lot warmer

    Torii,
A few weeks ago I was playing this really tough tennis match. It was back and forth, getting really hot at high noon, we cant break eachother’s serve. I make a shot he makes a good shot, until finally I’m in the tie break and I LOSE. I’m bummed, I feel like a failure because I know I should be able to handle this guy.
But then I realized I had only lost the first set and if I just didnt freak out I probably would have been ok. Once I realized all of this I basically dominated the next and the final tiebreak to win the match.
Moral of the story is, the series isn’t over all they did was win the first part, but you still have a whole half of the series yet to be played.
From the mind of tennis player where you have nobody, you have to dig down deep, take a breath, take in the beautiful scenery and relax man! It gets us die-hard Angels fans all hyped up to see you guys so nervous when there’s no need. We’re still here, and we still support the team from the Big A! If you need to rip into somebody because thats all the works fine, but maybe you guys should all go to downtown disney or something and take a breather!

    Good luck to you guys!!

    Torii –
For what is worth you and your teammates have the support of this Minnesota Twins fan. You know how that played out in the ALDS.

I also spent a good deal of time in the US Military in Southern California – those were good times. You have the home field mojo now. So it’s payback time.

The Angels are real gamers. You guys played your tails off and should be proud of that regardless of the outcome.

  9. stlouisgal

Hello from Cardinals Nation. I watched the entire game last night, and was sad to see you guys lose after such a long and rainy evening. Tough game! But soon you will be in sunny Cali in front of your fans. I will be rooting from my livingroom in Saint Louis!

  10. afflecl

    Torii,
That was a heartbreaker last night, but I know you guys can put it behind you. I love you guys, have for a long time now, so go show them what Angels baseball is all about! Let’s get home and take it to them!

    Best of luck, GO HALOS!!!

Torii, You aren’t the only one with some new gray hair! That game was hard to watch I can’t imagine what it was like to play it. I was so proud of Gary Matthews, Eybar and Figgins for coming through with the go ahead run after that terrible call on the double play. But as soon as Fuentes comes in all Angel fans start growing gray hair instantly and with good reason! Come on! He had A-rod down 0-2 throw one in the dirt like they would do to Vlad and see if he’ll swing! You will get lots of love when you get home because no matter what true fans still love you no matter what. So kick those guys in the butt and lets show those New Yorkers that the Angels can beat them. And lets win for Nick thats why it means so much to me and a lot of people this year, people thought the Angels season was over the day he died. So go and score some runs so we don’t have to worry about getting more gray hair when our “closer” comes in. Go Angels we can’t wait to see you come back and win this!

  12. apr4th1984

Regarding Aybar’s double play in the 10th game 2. I’m not rooting for either team but this is the first time I’ve seen this happen to an infielder so close to the bag. I’ve even seen infielders a foot away from the bag and umpires still called them as double plays. Or how about infielders jumping over runners and making double plays without touching the bag. Like all the 3 announcers that I went back and listened to, I too was shocked and thought it was a bad call. Not that it’s technically not a right call but that if the umpire was going to do it, then all the umpires should have made the switch in the beginning of the season and not spring it on Aybar in the 10th inning of game 2 of the ALCS. You can’t have it were every umpire will make that decision, whether to tag or not, on their own discretion. Either every one must tag, or keep protecting the infielders ankles and allow them the space that they have been giving them.

Torii, last night was a tough loss. My roommate left me alone once it ended, she saw I was close to tears. I really thought we were gonna take that game last night.

I know it’s just superstition, but I blame it on Joe Buck. Right before Tito’s 0-2 pitch to ARod, Buck decides to announce that “Fuentes gave up 6 HRs in the regular season.” Immediately after that, wouldn’t you know it, ARod hits one out of the park. Really?? REALLY?? Thanks a lot, Joe! Having grown up as the son of an announcer he should’ve known better than that, superstition or not!

Anyway, I know things will turn around back in SoCal. This series is NOT over yet, despite what people are saying. Sure, the Yanks had a great, dominant season, but we also swept them at home back in July! Let’s do it again!!! GO HALOS!!!!!!!!!

  14. x4morgan@yahoo.com

Tori welcome back home. You are the heart and soul of our Anaheim Angels. We will all be there on Monday to cheer for you and the team when they beat the Yankees. No way will we let them celebrate another victory in our house. Thanks for the smiles this year and all your hard work. I think you are just a great guy and I’m so proud that you are a member of our Angel team. Go get em!

  15. mikeylikesit192@yahoo.com

    Tori-

I’m a big fan of the Angels and of yours. Can you please do me a favor and remind Vlad how good he is and too stop swinging at every pitch?

Also, Gary Matthews Jr., I just don’t get it. This guy comes up to be a pinch hitter, but he strikes out twice both times on 3 straight pitches. Pass this along to Coach Mike…Don’t pinch hit Gary Matthews Jr. cause he SUCKS. Rob Quinlin is more reliable. My mom would be more reliable. Guy gets paid too much to suck so bad.

Best of luck on game 3.

  16. bastinhtr

That game is behind us now…I will be at home with you on Monday and Tuesday to cheer on your great Angel team that I love so much! You all should hold your heads up high – and come out swinging! GO HALO’S!

  17. angelsgirl012

    Mr Hunter
these past few games were certainly disappointing. This team is SO much better this i know it! I’ve seen it! Yankees are definitely a strong team for sure! No one’s underestimating them. Angels are just as tough and we are good enough to play at that kind of level. Y’all can’t make sloppy mistakes out there it kills ya esp against such a strong team. Well the fans will be cheering the team on that’s for sure! We’re with y’all all the way no matter what happens. I hope the Big A gives you guys some spark to get back in this!! BEST OF LUCK!
    GO ANGELS!

  18. hotefnefti@yahoo.com

We love our Angels. Not to worry Tori. You will have no problem hearing the love from the fans. I myself have watched every waking moment of Angels baseball. And when I wasn’t doing that I was with the fans on the blog sites talking about the highs and lows. I’m not giving up on you because I know you’re not giving up on us.

Hey Torrii; My name is No Way Jose and I run a fan site on myspace called Halo Space (www.myspace.com/laangels_baseball). I try to do my part by keeping the fans pumped up and positive whether it’s in the stands or on my page. I am proud to call myself an ANGELS FAN.
I would love for you to check out my page. Under artwork I have pics of you with Elmer Fudd and I call it Hunter Season. 🙂 I also have Vladdy, Bam bam and Aybar, as well as a tribute to Nick.

    Torii,
Don’t worry about those two loses, in retrospect the Yankees should be the ones worrying because the only reason why the Yankees won was because you guys made some minor errors. First game, you and your team dropped the ball a couple of times and that’s hat gave them to go ahead to score. If you guys did not make those couple of errors, then Yankees would be at 0. Second game was long, but the only reason why the Yankees won was because Maicer made a mistake trying to do that double play. If it actually reached, you guys would’ve gone to the 14th inning and who knows what might happen, well actually you could have won because the Yankees were down to one pitcher left and you were at two. Just remember that just because the Angels beat the Yankees 2 times in the post season does not mean they will get three times in a row. Boston probably felt like that and guess what, they lost to you guys just like that. Now You’re at your home field with all your fans behind you and if you go to Yankee Stadium again, just try not to make any errors.

    Torii,

No worries about feeling the love from the Angels fans. It will be there.

Last night was hard for the team and hard for all Angels fans. We yelled, we screamed, we cheered and you guys played an epic game – they just got one more run than we did. It was a tough loss and my heart hurt for you guys. But like Mike says, “turn the page” time to play the next game. And we know you can beat this other beast from the east.

You’re home now – it’s warmer – it’s home – and we all love ya!!!!

I’ll be cheering from my desk on Monday and from my seat in the stadium on Tuesday. I can’t wait.

    GO ANGELS!!!!

  22. mjaramillo22

We all know that baseball comes down to a game of inches, and, well, thats what happened last night! On the other hand, when a game is played in a span of 5 hours, you KNOW you are watching the best of the best in baseball!
We are glad to have our Angels home again, and the fans will be there in full force to rally our boys to a win! We can’t single out who did or didnt get the job done. Thats why we play 7! The page is turned on the last two games, Monday we start new! As I put my Angels tank on under my scrubs, and set my computer for game tracker for that 1pm game, I know the mighty Angels and awesome fans will make the Yankees wish they never left the Bronx!!! Go HALOS!!

Torii, here’s some love from Minnesota Twins fans. The Angels are a much better team than the Twins were this year and yet the Yankees keep finding ways to beat both of us at the last minute. Tough to take, but I know you and the Angels will keep battling. I really hope this is the year you end up with a ring. You are one of the very BEST guys in the game.

  24. edwinjoeng_1@hotmail.com

    Hey Tori,
I’ve been cheering for the Angels since the beginning of this season, mainly because you and Vladmir are on the Angels. You guys are my two favorite players on the team and I know you guys will pull through! The weather is on your side for the next 3 games! Anaheim is an amazing city, I plan on moving out of Toronto and to Anaheim/ Los Angeles after I’m finished university! Best of luck in Games 3, 4, 5 in Anaheim!

  25. d-cannon@live.com

Torii…have a sit diown with Scoscia and talk him into dropping Vlade in the order. If Morales or Rivera was in his spot last night, I think the Angels win the game.

  26. mlbangelsfan@yahoo.com

Let go !!!! do it for Nick Adenhart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the rally monkey got your back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. mayraluvstony@yahoo.com

  28. opiejeanne

    Dear Torii,

We love our Angels, and we love you. We know you guys can do this thing because you’ve already been through hell this season, and you came out of it changed, transformed by a “baptism of fire”. You all have a clear vision of the challenge ahead.

Good luck tomorrow and I’ll be listening on the radio while I’m in class.

    Go Angels!

    Jeanne

  29. nmelluzzo@yahoo.com

I’m disappointed in the lack of suicide squeezes in professional baseball, it could have ended the game in the bottom of the tenth. Especially coming from someone who played in New Britain.

  30. gabbytmb

    Torii,

Despite today’s game(Game 4) I still have faith in you guys!! Don’t forget that there are many of us that still believe! Don’t give up and GO ANGELS!!!

Thought you might like this, or have read it before…
Isaiah 60:7 (New King James Version)
“All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together to you,
    The rams of Nebaioth shall minister to you;
They shall ascend with acceptance on My altar,
And I will glorify the house of My glory.”
The whole chapter is pretty good so I encourage you to read it!!
    God Bless!
